Cross Country
The Cross Country Running Competition is a big tradition in our school. As a staff, we are always so impressed to see so many children participate in the trials every September, determined to represent their school in Lee’s Road during the competition.
Children from Second to Sixth Class participate in the trials in the local pitch and it proves to be an exciting afternoon for all involved. The children who go through fully know they have the support of the whole school behind them.
Swimming
Here in St. Enda’s N.S. know how lucky we all are to live near the coast and multiple renowned beaches. Not only can we enjoy sea swims during hot summer days, but each class travels to Lahinch Leisure Centre for six to eight weeks each year to take part in swimming lessons. It is amazing to watch as each child’s skills improve as they get older and is always remarked as an enjoyable experience by each class group.
Playground Fun
We love to stretch our legs and walk to the local playground here in Lisdoonvarna on a dry day. It’s a great way to spend a portion of the afternoon and it is a well-earned treat for the hard-working students.
GAA Skills
Junior Infants to Sixth Class are having so much fun improving their Gaelic Football skills thanks to Dermot and Diorraing who visit us every Friday from Lisdoonvarna’s local St. Breckan’s GAA Club. Through exciting drills and entertaining games, the children are developing a love for the sport and will definitely prove a challenge to Mr. Carty’s Dubs someday.
Survey
The Active Flag Committee were eager to see what sports and hobbies the children in St. Enda’s enjoy. They compiled a survey and every child in our school got the opportunity to identify a club they are part of or what hobby they love the most. The committee tallied all the votes and created a bar chart to represent the information collected. It is clear that our school group is made up of a variety of talents.
Active School Walkway
It did not take long for our children to get used to our new Active Walkway. We are having so much fun trying out the different trails and charts. It is amazing to think we are experiencing learning in subjects and across all strands outdoors in an exciting, creative way.
