This is a new initiative in our school this year. Fundamental movement skills are an extremely important aspect of developing a child’s gross motor abilities, allowing them to be comfortable and confident when learning a new activity, sport, or game. The staff in St. Enda’s N.S. decided this was a key area to focus on to benefit every child from Junior Infants to Sixth Class.

Every Friday, at 10:30, the whole school gathers in the yard and follows Ms. Murphy and the Active Committee’s demonstration of a new skill. We practise energetic warm up exercises, take part in a fun skill developing activity and unwind and stretch with a calming cool down each week.

It is a very enjoyable time for all the children and staff and acts as a great bonding experience as the classes engage with each other. Wake Up Shake Up makes Friday our favourite day of the week!
