Science and Music Collide!

Science and Music Collide!
The children in 5th and 6th class combined music and science to create their very own guitars. The children studied how vibrations cause waves to travel through various mediums giving us sound.
To illustrate this, the children showed how a guitar works. The vibrations from the ‘strings’ (elastic bands) gave the guitar its sound. The children experimented with elastic bands of varying thickness – thereby giving off different sounds.
The children’s guitars were largely made of cardboard and kitchen rolls but, as always, some children pushed the boundaries and made their guitars from timber.
Well done to all involved.
